levels of editing & rates

Before seeing which rates may apply to the services you prefer, it may benefit you to learn about the edits available.
There are 4 different levels of editing offered:
  • proofreading
  • copy editing
  • mechanical editing
  • developmental editing

Proofreading includes correcting spelling, grammar, word use, and punctuation.

Current rates are from CAD $0.015-0.025 per word, depending on turnaround time.
Copy editing includes proofreading and correcting consistency, style, and technical issues.

Current rates are from CAD $0.0275-0.04 per word, depending on turnaround time.
Mechanical editing includes copy editing academic writing and the application of a specific citation or referencing style, such as APA and MLA.

​Current rates are from CAD $0.04-0.05 per word, depending on turnaround time.
Developmental editing includes copy editing professional writing, and checks for details from start to end. A quick meeting/call or an outline will be needed as guidance.

Current rates are from CAD $0.045-0.055 per word, depending on turnaround time.
