Frequently Asked Questions
As the writer, do I have to follow all of your suggested edits?
As an editor, what is your work style like?
What if I need financial assistance?
When are you available?
- I often sound like a broken record to the writers I work with, since I tell them at every opportunity that the work I'm editing is theirs. So my suggested edits are exactly that--simply suggestions. At the end of the day, I'm here to make your work shine.
As an editor, what is your work style like?
- I like to learn the author's way of writing and draw the best out of it! I'll also ask about the author's intentions, if I'm ever uncertain.
- I also heavily rely on Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster Dictionary, which are two resources editors use when working on any project (unless the publishing house has their own style), as well as researching current trends in the written work's genre.
- My preferred timeline for any projects, short or long, are to have 2-4 weeks to work on them, in case personal emergencies take place for either party.
- Lastly, I'd be remiss not to mention that I have a very positive disposition! I love the work I do (both my full-time career in education and my part-time editing), and in both careers, I get to lift people up to be their most confident, so I'll build my writers' confidence, even in the smallest ways, like leaving an encouraging comment on something they wrote that I absolutely adored reading!
What if I need financial assistance?
- One of my greatest passions is contributing to equity, diversity and inclusion, so to ensure all writers' voices from diverse backgrounds are published out there in the world, I offer ways you can pay, such as deferred payments and/or payment plans.
- This can be discussed via email and will be noted in a contract that both the editor and write sign.
When are you available?
- Good question! Between my full-time, personal life, and my many other hobbies, my part-time editing slots get full quite quickly.
- Still, I encourage you to email me at [email protected] (or click the button below), and you can let me know about the deadline for your written project.
- However, please note that, due to my schedule, I will most likely not take urgent requests (i.e., projects that need to be done as soon as possible, or need to be done in less than a month of contacting me).
